Promising c. diff drug fails to prove benefit in small, halted trial

This study tested whether an extra dose of bezlotoxumab, a drug that blocks the harmful toxin made by C. diff bacteria, could help very sick patients recover after emergency colon surgery. Only 5 people took part before the study was stopped early. The goal was to see if the drug could lower the risk of death and organ failure, but there were too few participants to draw clear conclusions.
