New test could pinpoint cause of devastating blood clotting disease
NCT ID NCT04745195
Summary
This study is testing a new laboratory method called the 'HMEC test' to better diagnose the underlying cause of a rare and severe condition called thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA). TMA causes dangerous blood clots in small vessels, often damaging the kidneys and brain. Researchers want to see if this test can more accurately identify patients whose TMA is driven by a problem with their immune system's 'complement' pathway, which could help guide more precise treatment decisions.
