Blood test breakthrough could end diagnostic confusion for serious inflammatory diseases

NCT ID NCT02143986

Summary

This study aims to improve how doctors tell the difference between several serious conditions that look very similar: adult-onset Still's disease, sepsis, and other severe inflammatory syndromes. Researchers will test a specific blood marker called 'glycosylated ferritin' in 60 patients to see if its pattern can act as a more accurate diagnostic fingerprint for each disease. The goal is to help patients get the correct diagnosis and treatment faster.
