New swallowing test aims for better answers

NCT ID NCT01284894

Summary

This study aimed to see if a newer, more detailed swallowing test (high-resolution manometry) is better at finding the cause of unexplained swallowing problems than the older standard test. It involved 247 adults in France who had trouble swallowing but no clear cause found on a basic scope exam. Researchers compared how well each test diagnosed the swallowing issue, how comfortable they were for patients, and the related costs of care.
