New scanner aims to help surgeons get skin cancer right the first time
NCT ID NCT07482956
Summary
This study is testing a special high-resolution skin scanner to see if it can help surgeons better map the edges of a common skin cancer before they operate. About 290 patients having standard surgery will be randomly assigned to either have their tumor borders checked with the new scanner first or to proceed with the usual method. The main goal is to see if using the scanner leads to fewer rounds of cutting during surgery while still completely removing the cancer.
