New blood markers could spot sepsis in newborns faster

NCT ID NCT07635264

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether combining standard blood markers (like CRP and PCT) with newer ones (like immature granulocytes and platelet ratios) could more accurately diagnose late-onset sepsis in full-term newborns. Researchers reviewed data from 128 babies to see how well these tests worked over time. The goal is to help doctors diagnose serious infections faster and more reliably.
