First seen Jan 29, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study tested whether low-dose CT scans or lung ultrasound are more accurate than standard chest X-rays for diagnosing pneumonia in people over 65. About 473 older adults with suspected pneumonia in the emergency room took part. The goal is to see if better imaging can reduce unnecessary antibiotic use and improve patient outcomes.
