Scans could revolutionize how doctors spot and track painful muscle condition

NCT ID NCT04519580

Summary

This study aims to find better ways to diagnose and monitor polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR), a painful muscle condition. Researchers are testing if ultrasound and PET/CT scans can accurately identify the disease and track its progress during steroid treatment. The study also investigates how often steroid treatment causes adrenal insufficiency, a serious side effect.
