Two-Drug spinal shot tested to ease agony of cancer amputation

NCT ID NCT07276867

Summary

This study is testing whether adding a drug called dexmedetomidine to a standard spinal anesthesia mix provides better and longer-lasting pain relief after leg amputation surgery for bone or soft tissue cancer (sarcoma). Researchers will compare the combination against the standard mix in 58 patients to see if it delays the need for strong rescue painkillers like morphine and reduces overall pain scores in the first day after surgery.
