First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study aims to validate new blood markers that can quickly rule out serious infection in newborns, helping doctors avoid giving unnecessary antibiotics. About 358 babies in intensive care with signs of late-onset sepsis will be tested. If successful, these markers could reduce antibiotic resistance and side effects in this vulnerable group.
