New imaging technique helps surgeons spot hidden liver tumors

NCT ID NCT01880554

Summary

This study tested whether adding a special contrast dye to ultrasound imaging during surgery helps surgeons see liver tumors more clearly. It involved 68 patients with colorectal cancer that had spread to the liver. The goal was to see if this enhanced imaging led surgeons to change their surgical plan in a justified way to remove more cancer.
