New Finger-Prick test could revolutionize dialysis timing

NCT ID NCT07450534

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether a new way of measuring kidney function (using an injection of iohexol and finger-prick blood tests) can better predict when people with advanced kidney disease will start feeling sick from kidney failure. It also checks if this method can accurately measure remaining kidney function in people already on dialysis. About 150 adults with stage 4 or 5 chronic kidney disease or on dialysis will take part. The goal is to see if this test is more useful than current standard methods.
