Scientists rethink iron in Life-Saving food for starving kids
NCT ID NCT07315295
Summary
This study aims to improve a special peanut-based paste used to treat severely malnourished children in Kenya. Researchers suspect the current formula contains too much iron, which can cause dangerous diarrhea and isn't properly absorbed. They will test a new version to see if it helps children absorb iron better and recover from malnutrition and anemia more safely and effectively.
