Breakthrough blood test could end guesswork for sick Kids' fevers

NCT ID NCT03163628

Summary

This study tested seven new blood markers to help doctors quickly and accurately tell if a fever in a young child is caused by a serious bacterial infection or just a virus. It involved nearly 1,000 children under 3 years old who came to the hospital with a fever. The goal was to find a better combination of tests than current methods to reduce uncertainty and guide the right treatment faster.
