Diabetes drug could sharpen scans for hidden heart disease

NCT ID NCT06510894

Summary

This study aims to see if adding a short course of an approved diabetes/heart failure drug (sotagliflozin) to a special low-carb diet helps get clearer pictures of heart inflammation on a PET scan. The goal is to improve the diagnosis of cardiac sarcoidosis, a condition where inflammation causes scarring in the heart. Researchers will give the drug and diet to 40 healthy volunteers and then perform a heart scan to measure how well the heart's sugar use is suppressed for a clearer image.
