Lab report hack could unmask hidden heart risk in thousands
NCT ID NCT05614219
Summary
This study is testing a simple idea: adding a short note to lab reports when someone has very high cholesterol. The note will remind doctors to check for a common inherited condition called familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) and consider a specialist referral. The goal is to see if this small change helps identify more people with FH who are currently missed, so they can get treatment to lower their lifelong heart disease risk.
