New score aims to reduce failed breathing tube removals in ICU
NCT ID NCT05085457
Summary
This study tested a new scoring system called ExPreS to help doctors decide when to safely remove breathing tubes from patients in intensive care. It involved 540 adults who had been on a ventilator for over 24 hours. Researchers compared the new score to standard methods to see which was better at predicting a successful removal, aiming to reduce the need to put the tube back in.
