New scan could spare thousands from unnecessary breast biopsies

NCT ID NCT05206331

Summary

This study is testing whether a special type of mammogram called contrast-enhanced mammography (CEM) can help doctors better decide which suspicious breast findings need a biopsy. The research involves 2,100 women who have been told they need a biopsy for a suspicious breast finding. Doctors will use the CEM scan to see if it can safely reduce the number of biopsies for non-cancerous findings while still catching nearly all cancers.
