New Light-Based scan aims to cut unnecessary breast biopsies

NCT ID NCT03842358

Summary

This study tested whether adding a special light-based imaging technique to a standard breast ultrasound could help doctors better tell harmless lumps from cancer. The goal was to see if this combined approach could reduce the number of unnecessary biopsies for benign lumps while still accurately catching cancer. Nearly 300 women with breast lumps scheduled for biopsy participated.
