New tool aims to cut unnecessary hospital trips for kids with stomach pain

NCT ID NCT06762275

Summary

This study is testing a new decision-making tool for doctors to better diagnose appendicitis in children with sudden stomach pain. The tool uses a checklist of symptoms and a simple finger-prick blood test. Researchers want to see if this helps doctors send fewer children to the hospital unnecessarily, while still catching all the serious cases.
