Extra antibiotic dose during surgery could cut infection risk
NCT ID NCT06860802
Summary
This study is testing whether adding an extra dose of an approved antibiotic during appendix removal surgery works better than the current standard single dose. Researchers will compare the two approaches in 46 adults having surgery for appendicitis. They'll measure antibiotic levels in blood and tissue to see which method provides better protection against surgical infections.
