NCT ID NCT07313605
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This pilot study tests whether using ultrasound to guide beta-blocker therapy is feasible in 100 adults with septic shock, a life-threatening infection causing low blood pressure and rapid heart rate. Participants will receive either the beta-blocker esmolol or standard care to see if a larger trial is possible. The goal is to identify patients who may benefit from slowing their heart rate without causing harm.
