Timing of sling placement during surgery may improve bladder leakage
NCT ID NCT07008898
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study compares two ways of doing a common surgery for pelvic organ prolapse and stress incontinence. Doctors want to know if placing a small mesh sling before or after lifting the vagina leads to better bladder control and happier patients. About 110 women having robotic surgery will take part, and their symptoms will be checked at 3 months.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- midurethral sling (a small piece of mesh)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could help surgeons choose the best timing for sling placement during prolapse surgery, leading to better continence and patient satisfaction.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage study with only 110 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The difference between the two timings might be small or not meaningful.
