NCT ID NCT06485141
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a brief counseling program called BeSMART, given to parents while their child is in the hospital, can improve how they store firearms at home. About 400 caregivers of hospitalized children will be randomly assigned to receive the counseling or usual care. The goal is to see if the program increases safe storage (guns locked and unloaded) and prompts parents to ask about guns in other homes their child visits.
