Daily enema trial aims to shield cancer patients from painful radiation burns

Summary
This study is testing if a daily Bergmann enema can prevent painful rectal injury in people receiving short-course radiation for rectal cancer. The goal is to see if this simple treatment can reduce the rate of moderate-to-severe injury from 80% down to 50%. About 40 patients will receive the enema daily, starting with radiation and continuing for 10 days after it ends.
