Can a simple brochure help seniors safely quit risky sleep and anxiety pills?

NCT ID NCT07474532

Summary

This study aims to see if giving an educational brochure to older adults helps change their attitudes and beliefs about reducing or stopping their long-term use of benzodiazepine medications (like certain sleep or anxiety pills). Researchers will give the brochure to 96 hospitalized seniors and then ask them questions to see if their willingness to reduce the medication changes. The goal is to understand if simple educational tools can make it easier for patients and doctors to discuss safely stopping these drugs, which can cause falls and confusion in older people.
