New drug may help stem cell transplant patients avoid extra immune suppression

NCT ID NCT05996627

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study tests whether the drug belumosudil can prevent chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD) from getting worse after a stem cell transplant. cGVHD is a common complication where the donor's immune cells attack the patient's body. The trial will compare belumosudil to a placebo in 82 adults who already have mild cGVHD symptoms. The goal is to see if the drug can delay or avoid the need for stronger immune-suppressing medications.
