Beetroot juice study for missed periods fizzles out
NCT ID NCT07019129
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 36 times
Summary
This study looked at whether beetroot juice, which is rich in nitrates, could improve muscle power and oxygen recovery in women who have stopped menstruating (secondary amenorrhea). The idea was that the lack of estrogen in these women lowers nitric oxide levels, and beetroot juice might help restore it. Only 3 women were enrolled before the study was terminated, so no firm conclusions can be drawn.
