Beetroot juice trial aims to ease strain on heart after lung clots

NCT ID NCT07431229

Summary

This study is testing if a natural compound in beetroot juice can help relax blood vessels in the lungs of patients with a serious type of blood clot called pulmonary embolism. The goal is to see if this lowers the dangerous high pressure in the lungs, which strains the heart, and helps stabilize patients. Participants will receive either the beetroot juice or a placebo juice for five days, in addition to their standard blood-thinning medications.
