New study aims to unlock secrets of bee venom therapy failures
NCT ID NCT04259359
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study is investigating why bee venom immunotherapy (VIT) doesn't work for some people. Researchers will test blood samples from 266 adults with bee venom allergy before they start treatment. They want to see if having a strong allergic response to a specific bee venom component, called Api m 10, predicts treatment failure. The goal is to improve future allergy shots so more people are protected from severe reactions.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
bee venom immunotherapy
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help doctors identify which patients are at risk of treatment failure and lead to better, more personalized bee venom allergy treatments.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It may not directly change care, and results might not apply to all patients.
