Five days in bed: scientists measure rapid muscle meltdown
NCT ID NCT07178353
Summary
This study aims to understand how just five days of strict bedrest affects muscle size, strength, and the body's ability to process sugar in healthy young adults. Researchers will measure changes in leg muscles, strength, and insulin sensitivity before and after a 5-day bedrest period. The goal is to gather detailed information to help design future treatments that could prevent muscle loss during hospital stays or recovery from illness.
