Can a simple supplement reverse muscle wasting in liver patients?
NCT ID NCT06121492
Summary
This study is testing whether taking a specific amino acid supplement (branched-chain amino acids or BCAA) for 24 weeks can help rebuild muscle mass and improve strength in people with liver cirrhosis who have lost significant muscle. Researchers will compare the supplement to a placebo (inactive pill) in 86 participants to see if it helps reverse muscle loss, improves physical function, and potentially slows liver disease progression. Participants will also receive diet and exercise advice and undergo regular check-ups and tests.
