NCT ID NCT07670195
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether taking high-dose branched chain amino acids (BCAAs) can help teens and young adults recover from a concussion more quickly. Researchers will compare recovery rates at 28 days between those taking BCAAs and those taking a placebo. The trial aims to enroll 150 participants aged 11 to 23 who have had a concussion within the past 4 days.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
branched chain amino acids (BCAAs)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple supplement to speed up concussion recovery.
What could go wrong
This is an early phase 2 trial with only 150 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. BCAAs are generally safe but may cause stomach upset.
