NCT ID NCT06997315

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at how the timing of exercise affects the body's daily rhythms in muscle metabolism. Thirty healthy adults will stay in a lab for 36 hours, with constant feeding through a tube and regular muscle and blood samples. Some will cycle for an hour in the morning, some in the evening, and others will rest. The goal is to understand how exercise timing influences carbohydrate and protein use over 24 hours.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could reveal how exercise timing influences metabolism, potentially guiding future advice on when to exercise for better metabolic health.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage observational study with only 30 participants. It is not testing a treatment, so results may not apply broadly or lead directly to health recommendations.
