Summary

This study tested a new office-based swallow test called EsoCheck/EsoGuard to detect Barrett's esophagus in people at risk who don't have chronic heartburn symptoms. Researchers enrolled about 500 adults over age 50 with specific risk factors but no regular heartburn. The goal was to see if this simpler test could accurately identify who needed a more invasive endoscopy procedure.
