Brush test could predict esophageal cancer risk

NCT ID NCT07455422

First seen Mar 25, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a brush used during a routine endoscopy can help predict the risk of esophageal cancer in people with Barrett's esophagus. About 266 adults will provide tissue and blood samples for genetic analysis. Some participants will learn their risk profile, while others will not, and all will complete questionnaires about their quality of life and cancer worry. The goal is to find a cost-effective way to monitor patients and reduce fear of cancer.
