New hope for kids with severe arthritis: testing a promising pill

Summary
This study is testing a medication called baricitinib to see if it can safely control the symptoms of a severe form of childhood arthritis called systemic JIA. Children aged 1 to 18 with active arthritis will take either baricitinib or a standard treatment (tocilizumab) to compare their effectiveness. The main goal is to see if the drug reduces joint pain and swelling and improves overall disease activity after 12 weeks.
