Scientists target HIV's brain hideout with common arthritis pill

NCT ID NCT05452564

Summary

This study is testing if baricitinib, an existing drug for rheumatoid arthritis, can reduce the amount of hidden HIV virus in the brain and spinal fluid. It involves 95 adults whose HIV is well-controlled with standard medication. Researchers will compare the drug to a placebo, using spinal taps, blood tests, brain scans, and memory tests to see if it helps clear the virus from the nervous system.
