Heart study tests balloon alternative to stents
NCT ID NCT06551662
Summary
This study compares two ways to treat narrowed branches in heart arteries. Researchers are testing whether a drug-coated balloon works as well as the standard drug-coated stent to keep arteries open. About 321 adults with coronary artery disease who need an artery-opening procedure will be randomly assigned to receive either the balloon or stent treatment. The main goal is to see which method better maintains blood flow in the treated artery branches over 6-9 months.
