Major kid study tests which IV fluid saves more lives from sepsis
NCT ID NCT04102371
Summary
This large study aimed to find out if one common type of IV fluid is better than another for treating children with life-threatening septic shock. Over 9,000 children were randomly given either 'normal saline' or a 'balanced' fluid in emergency departments. Researchers wanted to see which fluid was more effective at saving lives and preventing serious kidney problems.
