First seen Nov 12, 2025 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study looked at over 9,000 children with septic shock to see if a balanced salt solution (like lactated Ringer's) is better than normal saline for preventing serious kidney problems. The goal was to find out which fluid reduces the risk of death, need for dialysis, or lasting kidney damage within 30 days. The results help doctors choose the safest fluid for emergency care.
