Scientists study balance secrets of leg amputees

NCT ID NCT05301270

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 35 times

Summary

This study looked at how people with a leg amputation (below or above the knee) use their muscles and adjust their body to stay balanced when the surface they stand on moves suddenly. Researchers measured muscle activity and body movements in 29 adults who had used a prosthetic leg for at least a year. The goal was to better understand their balance strategies, not to test a treatment.
