First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study will use a procedure called bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) to collect fluid from the lungs of 66 adults with suspected interstitial lung disease (ILD). The fluid will be analyzed to identify specific inflammatory cells, which may help doctors distinguish between different ILD types. The goal is to improve diagnosis and understanding of these lung conditions.

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to
If successful, this study could improve how doctors diagnose and manage interstitial lung diseases by using BAL fluid analysis.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It may not lead to direct patient benefits, and results may not apply to all ILD patients.
