Simple bag could be lifesaver for struggling lungs
NCT ID NCT07460427
Summary
This study is testing if a simple, low-cost breathing device called Bag CPAP is better than standard oxygen therapy for adults with sudden, severe breathing failure. The goal is to see if using this device helps more people avoid needing to be put on a ventilator, which could improve survival, especially in areas with limited medical resources. Researchers in Rwanda will compare the two treatments in 250 patients to see which one leads to fewer people meeting the criteria for a ventilator after one week.
