New tracer could light up hidden infections

NCT ID NCT04263792

First seen Feb 05, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This early-phase study is testing a radioactive tracer called [18F]F-TMP to see how it spreads in the body and if it can help find bacterial infections using PET/CT scans. About 20 adults with known or suspected bacterial infections will receive the tracer and undergo imaging. The goal is to understand how the tracer behaves in healthy and infected tissues, which could lead to better infection detection in the future.
