Scientists test 'Bacterial Bomb' to blast open tough tumors

NCT ID NCT03435952

Summary

This early-stage study is testing a new combination treatment for advanced solid tumors that have stopped responding to standard therapies. Researchers are injecting a modified, non-toxic bacteria directly into a tumor to help break it down, while also giving an immunotherapy drug (pembrolizumab) to boost the body's own immune attack. The main goals are to find a safe dose and see if this approach can help control the cancer in up to 18 participants.
