New approach targets both back pain and emotional distress
NCT ID NCT04747314
Summary
This study tested whether combining antidepressant medication with specialized physical therapy works better than either treatment alone for people with chronic low back pain who also experience depression or anxiety. Researchers enrolled 308 adults who had back pain for over 6 months and significant emotional distress. The goal was to see if addressing both physical pain and negative emotions together improves overall outcomes more effectively.
