Numbing shot tested to halt back pain in its tracks

NCT ID NCT07434024

Summary

This study is testing if a targeted numbing injection, called an Erector Spinae Plane Block (ESPB), can provide fast relief for sudden, severe low back pain. Researchers will compare the injection to a placebo (a shot with no medicine) in 300 adults who come to the emergency room with this type of pain. The main goal is to see if the block reduces pain enough for patients to get up and move easily right away.
