Scientists track baby hearts from birth to build First-of-its-Kind health map
NCT ID NCT06200519
Summary
This study aims to create the first detailed reference values for how a healthy infant's heart relaxes and fills with blood (diastolic function) during the first days and years of life. Researchers will follow 216 babies born at 35 weeks or later, giving them four heart ultrasound scans: two in their first two days and two more as they grow into toddlers. The goal is to understand what 'normal' looks like and how factors like the mother's health or birth conditions might influence a baby's heart development over time.
