First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This early-phase trial tests a combination of three drugs—azacitidine, venetoclax, and pevonedistat—in adults newly diagnosed with a challenging form of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The goal is to find the best dose and see if the combo can improve remission rates. About 40 participants will receive the drugs intravenously or by mouth. The study is active but no longer recruiting.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

azacitidine, venetoclax, and pevonedistat

What this could lead to

If successful, this combination could offer a new treatment option for people with hard-to-treat acute myeloid leukemia, potentially improving remission rates.

What could go wrong

This is an early-phase trial with only 40 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The drugs can cause serious side effects, and the combination may not work better than existing treatments.
